How Remote Computer Repair Works
Remote appointments work just like my onsite service calls. You’ll get the same reminders I do, and your session is scheduled for an exact time — not a time window. I’ll call you right at the time you booked so you know exactly when to be at your computer. If I’m still finishing up an onsite appointment when the 30‑minute reminder hits, I’ll call or text to let you know I’m running a little behind — the same way I would for an onsite visit. I always try to stay on schedule, and if there’s ever a delay, I keep you updated.
Most remote sessions are on Windows computers — that’s my specialty — but I can also help with Mac, iOS, and even Android when needed. If your device isn’t Windows, no worries at all. I’ll walk you through exactly which download button to click on the Splashtop page.
When we’re ready to begin, I’ll have you go to sos.splashtop.com on the computer you want help with. You’ll see download buttons for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS — just click the one that matches the device you’re using.
Please wait until our scheduled time before downloading or opening the program. Once you open the downloaded file, it will launch a small app that displays a temporary 9‑digit session code. This code expires after a few minutes, so I’ll tell you exactly when to open it and read the code to me over the phone or text it to me.
After I enter the code, I can connect to your computer and you’ll see everything I’m doing in real time. Nothing is installed permanently, and I can’t reconnect later without a brand‑new code — you stay in full control the entire time.
